Do offset and backspacing mean the same thing?
No. They use different reference points.
Can two wheel widths use the same offset?
Yes, but their inner and outer positions can differ because their widths differ.
Does a photo prove fitment?
No. A photo is inspiration; the actual wheel, tire and vehicle specifications still need checking.
Offset uses the centerline.
Offset describes where the wheel’s hub-mounting face sits relative to its centerline. Positive offset places that face toward the street side; negative offset places it toward the vehicle side.
Backspacing uses the inner edge.
Backspacing is the distance from the mounting face to the inner wheel edge. Wheel width affects this measurement, so offset alone is not a complete fitment specification.
The complete combination matters.
Wheel width, tire dimensions and room around brakes, suspension and bodywork all matter. Compare manufacturer specifications for the exact application rather than copying the appearance of another build.
